Witch Chocolate Bites is the 4th book in the Bewitched by Chocolate series by H.Y. Hanna.
With cozy mysteries, when you start getting further into the series, things can sometimes get stale. NOT with this series.  It just keeps getting better and better!

When I'm reading this series (as well as the Oxford Tearoom Series) I feel like I am visiting with old friends again. I am always anxious to see what some of my favourite characters are up to this time!  I also love how each series mentions the other in some way.

I always write that I'm really not a huge fan of the paranormal, but this series just does it so well.  I'm not turned off by it whatsoever, in fact I find it very charming, and full of lots of laughs too.  I'm glad that Uncle Viktor is featured more in this installment.  I've liked his character right from the beginning and hope he's featured a bit more in future reads.  I can't praise this series enough, honestly.  The way this one ended (I won't give any spoilers, you need to read to find out for yourself) has me really anxious to get to the next one! My jaw dropped while reading the last and I thought.....no! The story can't be over NOW!!

Seriously if you haven't read this series yet, you're really missing out on a fantastic cozy series. It has everything a good cozy does and you're doing yourself a disservice by not checking it out. So... go do it.  Really!

I received a copy of this book from the author as an ARC. My review is completely my own thoughts and feelings. Thank you H.Y. Hanna for yet another awesome cozy mystery!

It's been a while....

It's been a long time, way too long in fact... since I have updated my blog. There has been lots going on in life, and things just had to take some priority.

I've managed to keep up with some reading but am still behind in my personal reading challenges.  Hopefully the last half of the year I'll have everything back on track and back up to speed and where I want to be.

I have quite a few books that I want to post reviews on, and though it will take a bit of time, I will get them done. I've been given some really great ARCs to read and want to get my reviews posted, they really deserve them!

I've also managed to misplace my Kindle *cries*  and I'm hoping that it turns up soon. I don't like trying to read ebooks on my computer, it's just too hard to curl up in bed and read that way lol

So... time to get some reviews posted!

Happy New Year!

Well, hello 2017! And Happy New Year to you all!

I know I haven't posted in a long while... but life got super busy. Not an excuse, but it is the reason.  Shortly after my last post I was hired full time in a management position, and life became a whirlwind of learning, and stress, and fun and business and all that goes along with it. I was getting used to working the 'mid-shift' which is 1030am until 7pm daily and I was exhausted by the time I got home. I was still able to get some reading in but, I really fell behind in so many things.  And then Christmas season happened and the rest... well, you know how it is!

I am happy to say though that I was able to complete my 100 books read challenge on Goodreads! I wasn't sure I was going to be able to get it finished with my free reading hours cut so drastically but I did manage :) I"m not too sure how I fared off with the other challenges but I will try to get that organized this week sometime and see where I landed! I plan on doing the Cozy Mystery Challenge again for 2017 along with THE Book Club on Facebook reading challenge though I've cut my goals down accordingly to 60 books read this year instead of 100. And if I surpass it, well... it's just a bonus!

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy and SAFE New Year's Eve.  Here's to a wonderful year filled with great characters, fun plots and excellent reads!  I've already finished my first book for the year... time to get some organizing done!

Review: Dangling By A Thread (A Mainely Needlepoint Mystery Series Book 4) by Lea Wait

Dangling By A Thread is the 4th installment of the Mainly Needlepoint Series.  I have read the first book in the series, but somehow missed reading the next 2. It didn't make me feel like I needed to read the others first. There were a couple of things that were referred to from the past books but it was explained enough that I didn't feel lost. It does, however make me want to go back and read the 2 that I have missed, and I will do!

I enjoyed the mystery of this book. Jessie Lockhart is a hermit who lives alone on King's Island.  It's a sanctuary for an endangered bird species, the Great Cormorants, and he's made it his mission to keep the island safe for his birds.  But a wealthy family shows up in the area, and wants to buy King's Island and Jessie will have none of that.  When Jessie turns up dead, Angie is determined to find his killer and take up the cause to save the island.

There were lots of twists and turns throughout the course of the story, it wasn't easy to figure out 'whodunnit'  I'm a bit torn on the story though, I would have liked more interaction of the Needlepointers. Angie didn't seem to do much for the business throughout the story.. she did check in here and there with people but, it seemed like she wasn't really running a business at all.  I enjoy the backstory or I guess the secondary stories in most cozy mysteries with the main character running their business, not just all mystery.  I did like that at the beginning of each chapter, there is a quote of a sampler and the history behind it, it's quite unique. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a solid cozy mystery series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Review: The Girls Next Door (Detective Eden Berrisford Crime Thriller Series Book 1) by Mel Sherratt

Scheduled Release Date: October 27, 2016

I absolutely loved this book. So much so, that I had to complete it in one day, I had to know what was going to happen, it just totally drew me in!

This is the first novel that I've read by Mel Sherratt, but it certainly will not be the last.  I enjoy reading Police Procedurals, but this one is different than ones I've read in the past.

Detective Eden Berrisford is on the hunt for the suspects who have been attacking teenagers in the area.  All this, after sixteen year old Deanna Barker was murdered.  The story is already intense, but when Eden realizes her neice Jess has gone missing, then all bets are off. She's determined to find the kidnapper and bring Jess home safely...but time is running out.

The characters in the story are well developed and quite believable. It's easy to believe that the situations they find themselves in could happen in our world. I really enjoyed the interactions of Eden and her team, and can't wait to read more about them in the future. The story is quickly paced and doesn't get boring. On the contrary I didn't want to put it down.  I highly recommend this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC of this novel for an honest and unbiased review, also a huge thank you to THE Book Club on Facebook TBConFB for introducing me to some great authors!
