It's Been A While....

Hey everyone... It's been a bit since I've been around. Real life can sometimes get in the way and throw some wrenches at you. And that's pretty much what happened.  Throw in some reading block (as opposed to writer's block), working, and other fun stuff and it equals me being away for too long.

But, I'm back around and reading as much as I can while working on some projects that I just have to get done. I have some reviews to post soon, lots to catch up on, and a couple of current ones.  I'm about 15 books behind schedule on my reading challenge, but I'm hoping to catch up on that on my week's vacation. Let's see how many I can actually get done and if I'll be caught back up by July 24th. (That's 2 weeks away... fingers crossed!)

So, today's challenge is getting a couple of reviews done for books I've recently read, update my pinterest, goodreads, etc and make my list of what needs to be read next for reviews. I discovered this morning I'd pre-ordered a few books and they magically have appeared on my Kindle :)  Fun stuff!

Happy Reading!

Friday Funday

I can't help but chuckle at this one :)  I'm a fast reader, and I know how this kitty cat feels hahaha

So, this weekend I have no real plans other than maybe taking a trip to the local used book store, and getting my yarn stash sorted and get to work on some gifts. And yes of course some reading, that's a given!

I've finished a couple of the books I was reading this week, and I've got a few reviews to catch up on along with getting some other things done for the blog.

What are your big plans for the weekend?
Have fun, stay safe, and happy reading!

Friday Funday!

Sorry I couldn't resist :)

It's Friday! What are your reading plans for the weekend? I have 3.. yes 3! books on the go, so I am hoping to get them finished this weekend, or at least 2 of them.  One of my favourite authors also has a book coming out to her review team, and I just happen to be on it ;) So I am looking forward to receiving that book!

Other than of course reading, I'll also be spending some time at the rink and hopefully getting some spring cleaning started... though.... my books just might distract me!

What are your plans this weekend? Hope it's a great one!

Reading Rampage!

So I got a new Kindle for Christmas! (Wooohooo!!) And to say that I have been reading a bit since I have received it would be a complete understatement! Mom and Dad couldn't have given me a better gift :) Check out the funky purple giraffe case!

So I have ended up reading 5 books in 4 days and have 2 more on the go. I've got a few books that I was approved to read for Netgalley as well that I am excited over!

I really love this Kindle, it's the Kindle Paperwhite and it's so easy to download books. Why did I wait so long before getting one? My Kobo Glo was great too but I find myself more attached to this Kindle. No this isn't any paid advertisement or anything, I am just gushing (too much!) over this Kindle! haha

So my plans for 2016? Attack my reading challenges with a renewed passion, advance my blog to the next level, and create a separate blog for some of my crafting.  I am also addicted to yarn crafts and get torn between the 2 hobbies.

I hope you all have a wonderful New Years, and hope you will be visiting my little reading nook many times over the next year!

London's Beautiful Book Benches

As I was browsing through a news site and reading about (what else...) books, I came across an article about some wonderfully artistic benches that can be found in the city of London.

These benches were created by local artists who had partnered up with The National Literary Trust and Wild Art. At the end of the summer, these amazing benches will be auctioned off for charity. Who wouldn't want one of these fantastic creations?

This is my favourite of all of them, called "A Bear Called Paddington"

Here is the article that I was reading, along with pictures of all of these creative and inspiring benches. Which one is your favourite?

My Whirlwind Reading Session

Wow, so I totally blew through the book The One & Only by Emily Giffen.
I completely enjoyed this book, and even though I am not a football fan, nor do I understand anything really about the sport (I am the first one to admit that I am clueless when it comes to that sport) the bits about football didn't bother me at all. There was one part in the book that I admit, since I didn't know the terms and what it all meant, I sort of just skimmed over and waited for the good part afterward LOL I won't give anything like that away.

The book didn't remind me of any of her previous works, other than I enjoyed her characters and I enjoyed the different story line. It just felt like it was a different book, and I don't think that I would have pegged this as her book had I not known the difference.

All in all it was a good read... if it weren't, I wouldn't have sat down and read it completely all in one session!

Now, on to the next book :)

Back on Track

So I "fell off the wagon" so to speak with my reading recently. I know that I am behind with my reading goal for the year which is driving me crazy. I had some health issues that just kept me from reading and concentrating on things that I wanted to do. Now it is June, and the beautiful weather has returned to us. I am hoping to be able to spend a lot of time outside enjoying the sunshine while reading some new and old favourites.

I recently finished reading a book by Josie Bell called 50% off Murder which I really enjoyed. It combined my love of cozy mysteries and couponing. (Yes I love to coupon and save money it totally gives me a rush and feeling of achievement) I need to do an update on my goodreads wall and bookshelves and get a review up for some of the books that I have finished with.

Bear with me please as I get things rolling again, and start on some new books. I have a stack ready to go!

Have a wonderful day!

Reading Challenge

So I was browsing facebook today when I came across a post from one of my favourite authors, Debbie Macomber. She posted about this really great looking reading challenge called Reading Bingo Challenge 2014. Here is a picture of the bingo card (Click the bingo card to get more information. This challenge is featured on Retreat by Random House)

This is a great challenge, and there is also a challenge for Young Adults featured on the same page. I will definitely be trying this one. Over the next few days, I will post the books that I am thinking of reading for this and some suggestions for those of you who would like to try this out.

I've been on a huge reading stint and I am up to 11 books toward my 100 books this year. I will have to get around to posting reviews of the books that I have read. So far I am 3 books ahead of schedule and I have 2 books that I am half way through and one that I am about a quarter of the way through. Are you doing any reading challenges? I would love to hear from you and what they are!
Happy Reading Friends!

Book VS E-Reader: Which is best?

I only recently purchased an e-reader. I got a crazy good deal on a Kobo Glo. For the longest time, I wouldn't even consider purchasing one. My main argument was that I really preferred reading an actual book. Which is better?

I like them both. It was nothing for me to be sitting somewhere and pull a book out of my purse. I always had a book with me if my purse was big enough to hold it. My e-reader is just the same size dimension wise (not thickness of a book of course)

The e-reader is great.. it's very portable and I can store more than one book on it at a time. I am one of those people who normally have anywhere from 1 - 4 books on the go. I blame my short attention span.

But there is just something about opening up a brand new book, cover not cracked.. or picking up an old classic and the smell of the book.. there's just something about it I love

So which do you prefer? Book... or E-reader?
I am not convinced one is really that much better than the other. I am still holding on to both.
