Vacation Reading

So, I was on vacation in the White Mountains of New Hampshire this past week. We stayed at 2 different lodges there (a mixup with our reservation but it worked out in the end!) and I had planned on doing lots of relaxing and reading while we were there.

Well, there was sooo much to do I didn't get much reading done though I did finish the book I was reading by Kylie Logan called "Hot Button"  Another great read by Kylie Logan and I can't wait to read another of her cozy mysteries. I am going to request more at the library right now!

Another book down, 75 to go!

So, I just finished reading "Panic Button" by author Kylie Logan. If you like cozy mysteries, this definitely falls under that category.
The main character, Josie is a button expert with a successful button business. Josie is asked to look at some buttons on a 'charm string' for Angela, who later turns up dead in the alley behind Josie's shop.
I won't go into too many other details so that I don't spoil the book for anyone. The book and story line is quite interesting, and really the only thing that I didn't like was how the murderer was revealed at the end of the story. It sort of reminded me of the ending of an episode of Scooby Doo to be honest. Putting all that aside though, Josie is a likable character who loves buttons and certainly isn't afraid to jump in to aid in solving murders since her knowledge is always the key to the mystery.

The completion of reading this book puts me at 25 for the year and 75 away from my goal of 100 books for this year. Can I do it? Darn right I can! I will be away on vacation for about a week and plan on reading lots while travelling in the car to our destination (No don't worry I won't be driving haha)

I've currently got 4 other books on the go... let's see how many I can get done by the end of the week!

London's Beautiful Book Benches

As I was browsing through a news site and reading about (what else...) books, I came across an article about some wonderfully artistic benches that can be found in the city of London.

These benches were created by local artists who had partnered up with The National Literary Trust and Wild Art. At the end of the summer, these amazing benches will be auctioned off for charity. Who wouldn't want one of these fantastic creations?

This is my favourite of all of them, called "A Bear Called Paddington"

Here is the article that I was reading, along with pictures of all of these creative and inspiring benches. Which one is your favourite?

100 Novels

As I was scrolling through my facebook wall, I came across a link from a good friend of mine Tom. It was a link to "100 Novels That Make You Proud To Be Canadian"

So I thought, I read a lot, I wonder how many of these I have read.

ZERO! A big fat zero!

How can this be? Not even a single one?

I have since requested 3 of them from the library. I am determined to at least attempt to read some of these novels if not all.

My challenge to myself is to read at least 10 of these this year. At LEAST. Some of these (okay most) are not the type of novel I usually read. But that is what reading is all about, exploring new things... finding knowledge....escaping the boundaries of your mind...  I will do this.

How many of these novels have YOU read?
